Please find attached the Draft Early Support and Intervention Strategy for the Children’s Trust.

The aim of the Strategy is that, where necessary, we will intervene:-

•         ‘Early’ in a child’s life;

•         ‘Early’ in the course of an emerging need or concern;

•         ‘Early’ in the course of a child becoming ‘looked after’,

Evidence shows that if children can safely return to their homes in the first few weeks of becoming ‘looked after’ (formerly, ‘in care’) their life chances and overall outcomes are better than if they become settled in the looked after system.

The aim of the Strategy is that outcomes for children will be improved, and that the amount of money that Hull spends on specialist services and looked after children will be reduced, or invested into more universal and targeted services.
