Maths Mentors
Hassan came along to our first public meeting for Maths Mentors.   He worked in accounts in Iran, and wanted to use his qualifications to help young people – he also wanted opportunities to practise and improve his spoken English.

He came bouncing in to our office at the end of August to tell us that one of his students, who was capable of a C but was predicted a D on his performance prior to mentoring, had achieved a B grade in his GCSE Maths.

‘I am so happy!   And with all of the students, if I can see them sooner, rather than too near the exams, I will be able to help them more.’

His confidence and spoken English have clearly improved too.

Maths Medals
We support children in secondary schools to improve their Maths through funding an internet portal that they can use at home or at school.   Maths Medals are brief tests that can be taken online, then when you see what your results are, it highlights the areas where you need more practice.   We also produce booklets that explain each area and include practice tests.   Once each student gains a Silver at Key Stage 3, they will be on target to get a C grade in their Maths GCSE – so we provide prizes for those who do!!!

How to Find Your Bottom Line
We developed a simple cashbook and cashflow for community organisations, social enterprises and creative people to use – so that they could work out how much money they needed to earn, to break even or turn a profit.

Marvellous Spelling

After trialling this visual spelling method in over 50 Hull schools, we developed a resource pack for teachers to learn how it works!
